This image was taken during Cassini's closest-ever approach to Enceladus on March 9, 2005. Saturn's rings appear in the lower left corner, and are inclined at a slight tilt away from Cassini. The image was taken with the narrow angle camera using filters sensitive to polarized green light. The image was acquired from a distance of approximately 192,000 kilometers (119,000 miles) from Enceladus and at a Sun-Enceladus-spacecraft, or phase, angle of 47 degrees. Resolution in the image is about 1 kilometer (0.6 mile) per pixel. |
